Last week we revealed that Recyclebank’s green rewards program has teamed up with Greenopolis. This means that soon, Recyclebank’s 3 million members can get double the discounts and deals from hundreds of municipalities across the U.S. and UK, just for recycling. These discounts include everything from movie tickets to dinner deals.
Although recycling is the primary focus of Recyclebank’s rewards program, the company hopes to encourage and reward its customers for two more green initiatives: biking and walking. Partnering with Transport for London, which operates London’s transportation system, Recyclebank will test a program where people will receive monetary incentives to walk or bike.
An article in TriplePundit explains the program:
“Users of the new scheme will utilize a special smartphone app that will record their journeys on foot or by bicycle and will award them with points every time they make such a trip. These points could be redeemed later on for discounts and special offers with Recyclebank reward partners, such as Marks & Spencer or Cineworld.”
The new program, which will be tested later this year and is schedule to go live by the 2012 Olympic Games, is part of London’s goal to reduce pollution in the city. The city also hopes to reduce congestion in the streets and improve the overall fitness of the people.
More proof that Recyclebank is helping consumers have a positive impact on themselves and their surrounding environment.
