Tucson Padres Honored by Arizona Recycling Coalition

Minor league baseball team the Tucson Padres were recently recognized by the Arizona Recycling Coalition as having the best recycling program in Arizona in the Entertainment and Sports category.

Working with the City of Tucson Environmental Services Department, the team set up large recycling containers at all home games. Their initial goal was to recycle five tons of material during the season.

Thanks to a committed team, staff, vendors and fans, the Padres recycled far beyond their goal. This season they recycled 11.5 tons of material, which averages to about 400 pounds of material per game!

The team was honored with the award on August 20 at Kino Stadium.
